22 schools are recognized by the State and the Order of Architects: ENSA (National Higher Schools of Architecture), a private school ESA (Special School of Architecture) in Paris, and a public engineering school, INSA (National Institute of Applied Sciences) in Strasbourg. Count at least 5 years of study after the baccalaureate, to train for the profession of architect.
Twenty in number (including 6 in the Paris region), the ENSA (National Schools of Architecture) train more than 90% of future architects. Applications go through the Parcoursup platform. Admission is based on examination of the file, supplemented by an interview and possibly by tests. General baccalaureate holders are the most numerous among the students, but the schools also welcome holders of the STI2D and STD2A baccalaureate degrees, and professional baccalaureate holders in a building specialty.
